Greater Vancouver is home to a close-knit Torah observant community. What we offer
Everything an Orthodox community can offer
Everyone is
welcomed!
The Lower Mainland Jewish community is known for being a welcoming society, based on mutual respect and cooperation, where people have a sense of belonging and commitment. It is not unusual for the Orthodox community to promote and run events together. Newcomers are a vital part of our community, integrating quickly into the life of the community.

“The beauty of Vancouver’s Jewish community is the feeling of a small family with a big heart. Whatever your background or level of observance, you are valued for who you are and accepted as you are.”
Hodie Kahn
Member of the Torah West steering committee and the
Vancouver Hebrew Academy Board of Governors
Vancouver’s values
It doesn’t matter which stream of Orthodox Judaism you identify with —you’ll be certainly embraced by any shul you choose to go to—Vancouver boasts multiple Chabad houses, and Sephardic and Ashkenazi congregations. Each one of them offers a welcoming environment and all together, we are a big family.
